Who we are

Boozhoo, my name is Lukas, and I’m an Anishinaabe Ojibwe two-spirit activist from the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. I’m proud to call the Bad River Reservation my ancestral home—a place where sacred wetlands, rivers, and forests sustain life and hold the teachings of my relatives.

As an Indigenous activist, I am deeply committed to protecting our lands and waters from the threat of Enbridge’s Line 5 pipeline. This aging pipeline crosses through our reservation, endangering the Bad River watershed, our treaty rights, and the future of Lake Superior. For me, this fight is not just about stopping a pipeline—it’s about upholding the sovereignty of Indigenous nations, defending the rights of future generations, and honoring the sacred connection between our people and the Earth.

My work is rooted in community, education, and action. Whether organizing grassroots efforts, speaking out at rallies, or creating art to amplify our voices, I am dedicated to ensuring that the water remains clean, the land remains protected, and our treaties are respected.

I believe in the power of collective action and the resilience of Indigenous peoples. Together, we can protect what’s sacred. Chi-miigwech for standing with us.
